Do all cognitive abilities decline to the same extent when we are getting older?

The focus of this research is on investigating age-related limitations in the ability to control cognitive processing in task switching situations. Of specific interest is whether individual differences in two cognitive control components are differently affected with increasing age, generalize across task domains, and change during practice. The present study is of particular interest for developmental as well as for cognitive psychologists because it combines differential and experimental research designs and methods to draw a full picture of age differences in control processing during task switching.
