The applicability of the Aggression-Motive-Grid (AMG) among girls

BURKHARDT, K. P.

The aim of this study was to examine the applicability of the Aggression-Motive-Grid (AMG), a newly developed semi-projective test for measuring aggression and its inhibition in children among girls. A (1) psychometric analysis and an (2) analysis of test-fakability was conducted. The results of the psychometric analysis revealed that the test is applicable to girls. When compared to previous research for boys (Burkhardt et al. 1987) the scores showed a slight negative correlation for aggression motive and aggression inhibition. The analysis of test fakability revealed that girls showed the same effects as boys in Zumkley's (1987) study: under the condition of imagined anger the aggression motive scores increased whereas the inhibition scores did not. Under neutral and relaxed testing conditions the subjects scores were according to the girls norms. The results are discussed under the perspective of construct validity of the test.
